Smileworks Orthodontics’ Updates on COVID-19 (Coronavirus)
August 1st, 2022: Masks Recommended, but Not Required
The CDC and Virginia Health Department are now strongly recommending masks at healthcare facilities, but are no longer requiring them. At Smileworks Orthodontics, we have followed all guidelines from the beginning of the pandemic and will continue to do so. But at the same time, we realize the need to return to some sort of normalcy. Therefore, we are no longer requiring patients and/or staff to wear masks, but are strongly encouraging them. Staff will continue wearing masks during direct patient care, as always done even prior to the pandemic, per OSHA guidelines.
May 17th, 2021: Waiting Room now Open!
The CDC and the Governor of Virginia are still enforcing the mask mandate and social distancing guidelines for healthcare facilities. We are aware that the mask mandates and social distancing guidelines were lifted for fully vaccinated individuals as of last week in public settings. However, we will continue to do our part and enforce the mask mandate and social distancing in our facility as healthcare providers. We have taken all necessary precautions since the start of the pandemic and will continue to do so for the safety of our patients and staff.
Having said that, we are no longer going to require the written version of our health questionnaire. We will continue checking temperatures at the door and will verbally ask if you and/or any members of your household have any covid-related symptoms. We will reschedule any appointments for patients that present with a fever and/or have positive findings with the verbal screening for the safety of our staff and other patients.
We are also reopening our waiting reception area! You are now welcome to come inside for your appointment instead of waiting in your car. If you prefer to wait in your car, you can continue to text us on your arrival like you have done for the past several appointments. As mentioned earlier, we are continuing to enforce social distancing. If you come inside and find our waiting room to be full, we will greatly appreciate it if you can go back outside and wait in your car until we are ready to see you. And we are going to continue to request that only one parent accompanies the patient for the appointment without any siblings whenever possible.
We are excited to see the shift towards normalcy in our lives! We will continue posting updates here as our policies change. Thank you to all our patients for following all our protocols over the past year or so. You guys have been awesome!
May 4th, 2020: We have now reopened!
We are excited to announce that our office has reopened to patients starting Monday May 4th after the temporary shutdown due to the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic. Of course, safety is on all of our minds these days and we now have new protocols in place to protect all our patients and staff. We have always adhered to the strictest CDC and OSHA standards and are taking even more precautions now. The biggest change patients will experience is with our check-in process. We are asking for all patients to stay in their car when they arrive and to text our office at 703-383-0090. This allows us to control the number of individuals in our facility at the same time so that we can practice safe social distancing. Our staff will contact you when we are ready to see you. We are also encouraging all parents to stay in their cars while we see their children, but are making exceptions to this rule for parents of children under the age of 10 and those with special needs. To find out about the other changes we are making, please read Dr. Hussaini’s letter announcing the reopening of our office.
We have attempted to contact all our patients to reschedule their appointments. If you do not have an appointment or have not heard from our office, please call us at 703-383-0090 as soon as possible to schedule your next appointment. We look forward to seeing all of you guys again very soon! Take care and stay safe!
